DSI introduces the PBL Multiple Activation Autolock Bypass System for drilling, completion, workover and thru-tubing operations.
Originally developed to enable the aggressive pumping of LCM materials and to increase circulation rates for enhanced hole cleaning, the PBL has evolved to benefit many applications in the drilling, completion, and workover phases of a well such as:

• Pumping all types of LCM pills, including aggressive pills and cement squeezes
• Increasing circulation rates for improved hole cleaning resulting in reduced torque and drag, thereby increasing ROP
• Increasing annular velocity in highly deviated and horizontal wellbores where removal of cutting beds and hole cleaning are problematic
• Fluid displacements
• Sub-sea riser/BOP jetting
• Acidizing and stimulation treatments
• Coring applications

In addition, the PBL has several unique features:

• The PBL tool will close when the pumps are shut down minimizing a U tubing effect or possible well control issues that can occur in other tools
• The Autolock option, which allows for pulling a dry workstring or filling the drillstring while tripping in the hole. The Autolock option also provides an option to reverse circulate if necessary
• The PBL can be cycled numerous times in a single trip
• The ball shearing pressure can be set to the operator’s preference
• The main body and the catcher sub can be placed in different sections of the BHA to optimize workstring operations

Lost circulation means lost time and money to any Operator. Whether it's a shallow onshore well or a deep offshore multi-well project, all operators want to deal with lost circulation problems in a fast and effective manner. The Bypass System provides your field personnel with the equipment to get that job done. Drill with the hydraulics and specialized tools you need to make hole, and keep the PBL Bypass System on standby in the drillstring for when you encounter lost circulation.


Operations

• Drop the activation ball into the drillstring, displace it to the tool and open two side ports.
• Mix and pump an aggressive LCM pill that will heal the losses, and save you the trip for OEDP. The Bypass sub will accommodate anything your rig crew can mix and pump.
• When the rock fractures are sealed off, 2 deactivation balls are inserted and pumped down, pressure up. The activation ball (vinyl) will shear through the seat at a predetermined pressure. 100% of the flow will be reestablished to the drill bit. All balls will fall into the ball catcher cage.
• The procedure can be repeated up to 3 - 5 times (depending on the tool size).

Extended catcher cages to accommodate up to 10 sets of balls (10 cycles) are available on request.
